Sunbeams and Autumn Fire from Mount Jo

The Story

Fall is a very special time of the year for me. Hopefully a photo like this shows you exactly what I mean, because I'm not always the best at expressing myself! I'm happy enough just hiking the Adirondacks in the summer when it is a lush green wonderland, but to witness one of my favorite landscapes explode into a sea of fiery reds, oranges, yellows, and magentas is hard for me to believe can be real! On this Fall day back in 2024, I took the steep trail up to Mt Jo, opting for the "hidden" ledge that leads to this prominent view of Heart Lake. As you can see, it was quite a dramatic day with stormy skies giving way to beautifully strong sun beams spotlighting the colorful landscape. I may be a peak bagger at heart, but this short hike is well worth the views you are rewarded with!
