Magenta Awakening Over Kettle Pond: Owls Head Mountain

The Story

I'm not a huge fan of crowds or tourist overlooks, but sometimes the view is so worth it that you just have to go anyway. I wasn't expecting an entire photography workshop at the summit of Owls Head Mountain, so finding a spot to call my own among the crowded peak was a little bit of fun. I wanted my own photo and I had every right to do so, but I also did not want to block anyone else from taking their photos. Without any IBIS in my D850, I didn't feel comfortable hand holding my shot so I opted for a a short tripod setup that was a win-win for everybody. As the sun set, the colors were not overly impressive and some of the photographers began to leave. But my experience told me to hang around for another 15 minutes, and the sky absolutely exploded with rich pinks and magentas! It was well worth being among the crowds for this one.
