September 26, 2026 — After driving up to Keene Valley from Long Island to escape the downstate nor'easter, I shook off the road fatigue with a quick climb up Baxter Mountain. While the trail itself is unremarkable and the summit views are modest compared to the surrounding High Peaks, catching an early spread of fall foliage made for solid reward given the minimal effort required.
